Catering Event Captain
Part-Time Position | $20.00-25.00/Per Hour (+ Tip Eligible)
At Rosemary & Rye Catering, our Catering Event Captain play an integral role in the overall success of our events. This position is responsible for the set-up, service and breakdown of all food and beverage aspects of an event. This includes coordinating with our on-site chefs, managing banquet staff, communicating with planner(s) and addressing any concerns/complaints as they arise.
Due to the fast pace and high-pressure nature of the events we cater, our Catering Event Captains must have previous experience in the hospitality and/or food & bev. industry, as well as prior management experience. Those passionate about the industry will find immense pride and satisfaction in the successful execution of an event. This is the perfect role for those looking to gain more experience in the field and is a great stepping stone into event planning, catering sales, bar management, and a wide range of other food/bev careers.
Include but not limited to…
- Check in rentals on event site and ensure venue is setup in accordance to layout and BEO details
- Lead a team lineup prior to the start of service to review timelines, uniform checks, delegate tasks, and distribute any other necessary information to the event servers
- Communicate any event updates/changes with our onsite kitchen staff, servers, and any other relevant personnel
- Ensure that food and service reflect Rosemary & Rye’s high quality standards and all onsite staff members are representing the company appropriately
- Address and resolve any questions or complaints with quick and decisive action. Escalating issues through the proper channels as needed
- Breakdown catering area and check out with venue management at the end of the night
- Debrief the management team on the event via a post-event write-up via Google forms
- BS degree in Hospitality or Culinary degree (preferred)
- Work experience in the food & beverage industry AND prior management experience
- Experience with event planning (is a plus)
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Acute attention to detail and quality
- Ability to adhere to rigid timelines, yet flexible enough to adjust when needed
- Quick and decisive problem-solver with strong critical thinking skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service even during high-stress situations

EVENT SERVER
Part-Time Position | $18.00-$20.00/Per Hour (+ Tip Eligible)
Rosemary & Rye Catering is looking for part time event servers to join our growing team. We offer flexible self-scheduling with plenty of evening and weekend shifts available. As a preferred vendor in many of Charleston’s (and surrounding areas) finest venues you will have the opportunity to work in some of the Lowcountry’s best kept secrets, stunning plantations, historic homes, museums and more.
Our catering event servers are responsible for event setup, food service and non-alcoholic beverage service, keeping venue space clear of dirty china, glassware and trash during event duration, and breaking down the event site at the conclusion of the night. Servers are the face of Rosemary & Rye and are expected to be uphold the company’s standard of excellence at all times.
Include but not limited to…
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and adhere to R&R uniform standards
- Set-up and breakdown of table settings, food stations, and kitchen prep/space
- Assist with the load in and load out of catering van
- Aid Chef’s in basic food prep when needed
- Serve food; including tray passed hors d’oeuvres, managing stations, and plated dinners
- Refill food and beverage items and replenishing utensils and silverware as needed
- Clear tables of used dishes and glassware throughout the event
- Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude towards all guests and fellow vendors
- Assist with various tasks delegated by the Event Lead
- Work experience in the food & beverage industry (preferred)
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Ability to follow verbal directions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

EVENT BARTENDER
Part-Time Position | $18.00-$20.00/Per Hour (+ Tip Eligible)
Our Sister Bar Company, Squeeze Cocktail & Beverage Catering, is looking to add several Special Event Bartenders to their team. At Squeeze they hold both their staff and product to the highest standards. Their bartenders are not only responsible for drink preparation but creating a positive and memorable experience for all event attendees. Event Bartenders will report to the Bar Captain on-site.
With opportunities for advancement and flexible scheduling, this position is perfect individuals with strong work ethic, a passion for the service industry and are looking to make additional income in the evenings and/or on weekends.
Include but not limited to…
- Assist with set up and breakdown of on-site bar
- Greet guests and clients with courtesy and in a friendly manner
- Provide accurate details of the beverage selection being offered, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic
- Take beverage orders from guests
- Prepare and serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to the standards set forth by event management
- Monitor guest and client experience for 100% satisfaction – Address any concerns that are expressed by guests or client
- Assist with restocking and replenishment of bar supplies in absence of bar back
- Maintain cleanliness of bar setup at all times
- On occasion, operate cash bar
- Accept payment of beverages provided through utilization of iPad software
- Count and provide accurate change to guests
- Of legal age (at least 21) to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages
- Basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits with the ability to properly prepare, mix, and serve

Barback
Part-Time Position | $18/Per Hour (+ Tip Eligible)
Squeeze Cocktail & Beverage Catering is seeking motivated and reliable Barbacks to join their team. The Barback plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of mobile bar services at events and functions. This position is responsible for assisting the bartender(s), maintaining the bar area, restocking supplies, and contributing to the overall exceptional guest experience.
In addition to offering competitive compensation and flexible scheduling, this position presents an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the world of event bartending and mixology.
Include but not limited to…
- Transport bar supplies from the warehouse to event locations using a van or box truck as needed
- Aid in the setup and breakdown of the on-site bar, ensuring a smooth operational flow
- Warmly greet and interact with all guests and clients, embodying a professional and friendly demeanor
- Proactively anticipate the needs of bartenders and guests by maintaining a fully stocked bar, including glassware, liquor, wine, ice, and other essentials
- Monitor the satisfaction of guests and clients, promptly addressing any concerns or requests that may arise during the event
- Uphold the cleanliness and tidiness of the bar setup throughout the event duration
- Follow instructions from the Bar Captain as required to ensure the smooth flow of service
- Fundamental knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, including the capacity to proficiently restock bartender supplies.
- Exceptional customer service skills and a professional appearance.
- Availability to work on different nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in operating a Sprinter or U-Haul sized van, transporting supplies from the warehouse to the event location, and returning them after the event concludes
